Randi Kay and the 3-day adventure

60 miles. 3 days. 3,000 people.

Wow! This July I will be part of the AVON 3-day Breast Cancer walk from San Jose to San Francisco.

For many reasons I have decided to participate. Two of those reasons are my Aunt Kathy and my Aunt Cissy. I suppose I will be walking about 30 miles for each of them :)! I know that by participating in the 3-day walk, I will help contribute to research and medical services for people afflicted with cancer. I think walking 60 miles and drinking obscene amounts of gatorade is a lot easier than having to fight breast cancer.

One of my walking buddies in this cause is Jamie Gilchrist. We are pictured in the photo on the left with some of our sisters from Tri Delta (from left to right: Crystal, Kia, Jamie, Rk, Yasmin, and Tracy). Jamie and I went to our orientation together and decided that we can do this! Jamie was also one of the first people I met at UOP, and we have been convincing each other to do crazy stuff ever since (Russian language classes, Greek Rush, palm readings, etc.). It's good to know that someone else will be sharing in the pain of sore knees!

It also helped to meet other people who had already participated in the 3-day walk before. So many people were at the orientation that many people had to stand. It was encouraging to see those people, and I cannot even begin to imagine how many people are going to be there on Day One!

So here I am walking and walking and walking (you get my idea :P), so that others will be able to walk along too.
